Why the Creative Arts `Root`?

The Benefits:

There are many different types of art therapy that are beneficial to us. Creative Arts is a way for us to somehow express ourselves without fear of judgement. Through this, we are encouraged in our own way and own pace to interpret and eventually discuss what we have created, which in turn helps with any healing process or growth that we go through. Everyone of all ages, all back grounds is capable of creating some form of art. It is engaging on many different levels with interests and our natural curiosity which helps us to learn, grow and see things in different ways. Creative Arts helps us to a self-discovery, self-expression, and self-control. It is non-threatening, it is fun, positive, and creates a safe environment for all of us to release our emotions and thoughts positively and creatively.

Art - Painting, drawing, creating, colours being used and even the materials chosen this is all a means of expression of our thoughts, our understanding of what we are feeling, what we are going through, and how we can discover what our interests and talents are.

Music - Listening to music and singing is so helpful for us who may find it difficult to express themselves through words. It helps strengthen these areas of communication skills.

Drama/Theatre - Through drama we are able to find ways to express feelings that might be uncomfortable expressing, and in doing so this builds understanding of one self and others around us, and builds up our self awareness and confidence. This also creates team building, how to problem solve and to create solutions within themselves and in social situations.

Dance /Movement - Here we use the freedom of movement to further the emotional, cognitive, physical and social integration of our being.

Play/Props  - Here we use play techniques to resolve inner conflict, social situations and self healing.

Writing/Words -  Here we focus on the written word for growth, self healing and finding ways to understand and describe emotions and of one self.

Little Beets

The Programme:

Sometimes will be split into two age groups:

(18m - 2 years) and (2 - 3 year olds) or will be together in groups of 8-10 max.

We focus on broadening the Little ‘Beets’ minds with fun filled activities involving different areas of the Creative Arts such as puppetry, arts & crafts, sensory art, story telling, theatre, movement, and dance.

Our Main Focus in each age group is to help each Little Beetroot understand their emotions and to help develop their level of social skills through the Creative Arts.

To Empower, Uplift and Embrace them!

Each lesson will feature new activities. Depending on the theme, the lessons will have lots of reinforcement of the subject matter. This subject reinforcement will vary in delivery to ensure each child understands the lesson. We go at the pace of the children in the class, and always try to teach from the child’s perspective, making it a safe and fun experience.

Our Focus:

  • Here we help our ’Beets’ to discover themselves on a new exciting level! This creates self-awareness, awareness of others, and of their surroundings. We look at encouraging the positives of each child and supporting others. What do they like? How do they see themselves? Creating a vision of themselves as their super selves, and in the process understanding themselves better.

  • We help build up their confidence, their communication skills, and character through understanding their emotions through to their complex emotions through the creative arts in an appropriate, fun way to help them identify these with the understanding of each emotion through story-telling, puppetry, acting and interactive theatre. It is done simply and clearly with different situations with the subject being reinforced to help clarify the understanding of the situation and of the emotion.

  • We give the "how tools" for problem solving for life situations/skills.

  • We introduce breathing techniques, and positive self speech, how to problem solve, what is a growth mindset, and focus on the positives to help build up their super selves. A healthy body goes hand in hand with a healthy mind.

  • Drama Activities with Interactive Theatre - this encourages imaginary play, creative thinking, problem solving, and teamwork.

  • We also enjoy teaching the theory/history of the creative arts, as this adds value to the understanding of where and how the different forms of the arts came about.

  • We will always encourage sharing, manners, healthy eating, positive thinking, hygiene, and safety.

  • Our lessons include helping areas of Fine Motor Skills, Gross Motor skills and Oral Motor skills.

  • We incorporate lessons using elements and curriculum of The Big Life Journal, and Calm Classroom.

Certification & Cover:

  • Each Term equals 1 Module. Each child will receive a certification per Module. At the end of the year, we will supply a  progress report for each 'Beet'.

  • 2 emailed letters per term explaining our lessons.

  • Plus a Creative Beetroot Gift and our Hand-Made Art Folder (this is purchased once-off and to be used throughout the year).
